Description
Professional Leather Grain Replication Compound
LeTech Leather Grain Copier is a professional two-component moulding compound designed to reproduce the original grain pattern of leather and compatible textured surfaces.
When repairing damaged leather, matching the original colour is only part of achieving a professional result. The repaired area must also reproduce the texture of the surrounding material.
Leather Grain Copier allows technicians to take an accurate impression from an undamaged section of leather and use that impression to recreate the original grain during the repair process.
This helps repaired areas blend more naturally with the surrounding surface, making damage such as scratches, cuts, tears and holes less noticeable after restoration.
Reproduce the Original Leather Texture
Leather surfaces feature distinctive grain patterns that vary depending on the leather type, manufacturing process and original finish.
When damaged leather is repaired using a filler or repair compound, the original surface texture can be lost.
This often leaves a smooth repair that remains visible even after recolouring.
LeTech Leather Grain Copier allows technicians to reproduce the original texture by creating a flexible mould from an undamaged section of the material.
The moulding compound captures the fine surface details, producing an impression that can be used to recreate the surrounding grain pattern.
This is particularly useful for repairs to automotive leather seats, furniture upholstery and other visible leather surfaces.
Fast-Curing Two-Component Formula
Leather Grain Copier uses a two-component moulding system designed to capture fine surface textures.
The components are dispensed together through a suitable mixing nozzle, allowing them to combine before application.
Once mixed, the compound is spread in a thin layer over the selected surface.
The material then cures to form a flexible impression containing the original grain pattern.
Typical curing time is approximately 1–5 minutes, depending on application thickness and working conditions.
Thinner applications generally cure more quickly.
Create Reusable Grain Impressions
Once fully cured, the mould can be carefully removed from the original leather surface.
The resulting impression, sometimes referred to as a grain cushion or texture impression, contains a copy of the original surface pattern.
This impression can be retained and reused for subsequent compatible repairs.
Reusable grain impressions are particularly useful when repairing multiple areas of the same leather item or where several repairs require an identical texture.
Ideal for Leather & Vinyl Restoration
Leather Grain Copier is particularly useful for professional repairs involving:
- Automotive leather seats and interiors.
- Leather sofas and furniture upholstery.
- Leather handbags and accessories.
- Leather footwear.
- Leather clothing.
- Compatible synthetic leather surfaces.
- Compatible textured vinyl and plastic surfaces.
The product is intended for use alongside suitable repair compounds, including LeTech Vinyl & Leather Weld, where the repair process and materials are compatible.
Professional Results Through Accurate Texture Matching
A successful leather repair should match the surrounding surface in both colour and texture.
Even when the colour has been accurately restored, a smooth repair can remain noticeable against heavily grained leather.
LeTech Leather Grain Copier helps overcome this problem by allowing the original texture to be reproduced rather than recreated manually.
This makes it a valuable product for professional leather restoration technicians, automotive detailers and upholstery repair specialists.
Product size: 50ml
Please note: This is the standalone Leather Grain Copier product. The complete Leather Grain Copier Kit, including the application gun, is available separately.

Instructions
How to Use LeTech Leather Grain Copier
LeTech Leather Grain Copier is designed to create an accurate mould of an existing leather grain pattern.
For best results, select an undamaged area with a texture that closely matches the surface requiring repair.
Step 1 – Select the Original Grain Pattern
Identify an undamaged section of leather or compatible textured material with the same grain pattern as the damaged area.
Choose a section large enough to capture the required texture.
Ensure the selected surface is clean, dry and free from loose contamination.
Always test compatibility on an inconspicuous area before proceeding.
Step 2 – Prepare the Application Equipment
Prepare the Leather Grain Copier using the appropriate application gun and mixing nozzle.
The two components must be dispensed together and mixed thoroughly through the nozzle.
Ensure both components are flowing correctly before applying the material to the selected surface.
Step 3 – Apply the Moulding Compound
Dispense a small amount of the mixed compound onto the selected leather surface.
Using a suitable palette knife, spread the material evenly into a thin layer.
Ensure the compound covers the grain pattern you wish to reproduce.
Avoid unnecessarily thick applications, as these may increase curing time.
Step 4 – Allow the Compound to Cure
Leave the applied compound undisturbed while it cures.
Typical curing time: approximately 1–5 minutes.
The exact curing time depends on application thickness and working conditions.
Do not attempt to remove the impression until the material has cured completely.
Step 5 – Remove the Grain Impression
Once fully cured, carefully lift the mould from the original surface.
The cured material will contain an impression of the leather grain pattern.
Inspect the mould to ensure the required surface detail has been captured.
If the impression is incomplete, create another mould using a more suitable area.
Step 6 – Reproduce the Original Texture
Complete the necessary preparation and repair work using a suitable leather repair compound.
At the appropriate stage of the repair process, use the cured grain impression to reproduce the original surface texture.
When working with LeTech Vinyl & Leather Weld, follow its specific heat-curing and grain-transfer instructions.
Important: Ensure the grain impression is suitable for the chosen repair method and temperatures. Do not expose the mould or surrounding leather to uncontrolled heat.
Step 7 – Complete the Restoration
Once the repair has been completed and the original texture reproduced, proceed with any necessary colouring and finishing.
For compatible finished leather, this may include:
LeTech Leather Colourant
Used to restore the required colour and blend the repaired area with the surrounding leather.
LeTech Leather Top Coat
Applied to provide the required protective finish and sheen.
Follow the individual product instructions for preparation, application and drying.
