– The colour of the painted leather remains unchanged under the influence of UV radiation and other external factors.
– Highly decorative, retains the softness of leather, does not give the painted surface a filmy feeling.
– It is highly adhesive, thus it can be used for dying not only natural leathers, but also artificial leathers.
– It is recommended as a topcoat paint both for repairs of small leather damages and for full coverage.
– Sufficient viscosity of the paint allows application not only by spraying, but also by hand with a brush or roller.
– Highest environmental class.
– Meets modern leather industry standards.
Instructions
Leather Colourant EXPERT LINE paints from LeTech are professional materials and working with them to the full, requires a certain application technique as well as an understanding of the properties of the product.
Our LeTech ACADEMY – LeCademy+ trains you in the correct use of our professional care and restoration products and supports you in your work.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The process of restoring and painting consists of several important steps that must be carefully followed in order to achieve a quality result.
The surface to be painted must be thoroughly cleaned of dust, dirt and foreign matter, using a professional Leather Ultimate Cleaner.
In the case of heavy soiling and grease stains in the leather, the dirt and grease must first be removed using Leather Degreaser.
After thorough cleaning and preparation, the leather should be degreased using Leather Alcohol Cleaner (link) or Leather Liquid Degreaser (link).
If your leather is damaged or the paintwork is damaged, you should first remove the loose old paintwork with Leather Prep or Solvent Cleaner.
After thorough cleaning and preparation of the leather for painting, apply LeTech Leather Primer with Cross Linker X (link) 5-10% of the product.
PAINT APPLICATION
Shake Leather Fluorescent Colourant thoroughly before applying. For best results it is recommended that the colour is applied in thin and even coats by spraying with a blower or airbrush.
Pneumatic spraying by airbrush or airbrush gun. Can be diluted with distilled water. Nozzle diameter: 0.5 to 1.2 mm. Pressure: 1.1 – 8 bar (depending on airbrush or spray gun model). Compressed air must be free from water and oil. Paint must be thoroughly mixed and passed through a 190 micron filter before application.
Application with sponge, brush or roller: the optimum viscosity of the paint enables manual application, touch-up of minor, localized skin damage, foundation, for further treatment of the skin or colour recovery.
It is also an excellent colouring technique for painting on leather. For thicker colours, use our Thickening Agent
FINISHING
After colouring the leather, it is advisable to protect the surface with LeTech Leather Top Coat and 5-10% Cross Linker X polyurethane fixative.
LeTech Leather Top Coat enhances the abrasion and durability of the leather finish.
With the LeTech EXPERT LINE range of protective coatings, you can choose from a variety of matte or gloss finishes to give your leather the tactile properties you want from our range of unique Leather Protective Coat additives:
- tactile Leather Slip Additive
- a Leather Wax-Effect Additive for tactile modification
- Leather X-GUARD Leather X-GUARD Additive
- Leather Casein Additive
- Leather Thickening Agent
Leather Top Coat is applied as a final step, after the leather has been repaired and painted, to ensure that the result is firmly established. The Leather Top Coat is ideally applied by spraying with an airbrush or paint sprayer. This allows you to get an even film and the necessary protective coating characteristics. Avoid applying too much varnish as too thick layers of barrier varnish can distort the colour and make the leather stiffer.
The drying time of Leather Top Coat depends on the temperature and humidity of the environment. Leather Top Coat can usually be used after 2-3 hours after restoration, but the complete curing and crystallisation process takes 8-12 hours.
It is not recommended to expose the leather to cleaning agents and various leather care products in the first week after restoration and application of Leather Top Coat. A week after restoration, the leather can be used without restrictions.
INSTRUMENT CLEANING
After all coatings have been applied, rinse the tools used thoroughly with water and, if necessary, use LeTech Leather Prep paint remover.
