Description

Professional Leather Degreasing & Final Surface Preparation

LeTech Leather Alcohol Cleaner is a specialist alcohol-based cleaning product developed for professional leather restoration, repair and recolouring.

Designed for use during the preparation process, it helps remove light grease, oils, cleaning residues and other surface contaminants that may interfere with the adhesion of newly applied leather coatings.

Thorough surface preparation is essential when carrying out professional leather restoration. Even small amounts of residual contamination can affect the performance and appearance of leather colourants and protective finishes.

Leather Alcohol Cleaner provides an effective final cleaning stage, helping ensure that the leather surface is suitably prepared before the application of subsequent restoration products.

Removes Residual Surface Contamination

Leather surfaces can accumulate contamination from regular handling, cleaning products, conditioners and environmental exposure.

Although general dirt can be removed using conventional leather cleaners, some residues may remain on the surface.

LeTech Leather Alcohol Cleaner helps remove certain alcohol-soluble contaminants, including light oils and residues that may affect coating adhesion.

Its alcohol-based formulation evaporates readily, making it particularly useful during the final stages of leather preparation.

Essential Preparation Before Recolouring

Correct preparation plays a major role in achieving a professional and durable leather restoration.

When recolouring leather, the surface must be clean, dry and free from substances that could prevent the new finish from bonding correctly.

Leather Alcohol Cleaner can be used as a final cleaning treatment following the appropriate preparation process.

It is particularly useful before applying LeTech Leather Primer, Leather Colourant or Leather Top Coat.

Complements the LeTech Leather Preparation System

Different preparation products perform different functions during leather restoration.

Leather Ultimate Cleaner removes general dirt and everyday surface contamination.

Leather Solvent Cleaner provides controlled solvent cleaning and can soften compatible existing finishes.

Leather Prep is used when more intensive removal of existing leather coatings is required.

Leather Alcohol Cleaner provides a final cleaning stage, helping remove remaining surface contamination before refinishing.

Using the appropriate preparation products helps achieve a clean and stable foundation for professional leather restoration.

LeTech Leather Alcohol Cleaner is suitable for:

  • Final cleaning before leather recolouring.

Instructions

How to Use LeTech Leather Alcohol Cleaner

LeTech Leather Alcohol Cleaner is designed for final surface cleaning and preparation before professional leather recolouring.

Because alcohol can affect certain existing finishes, always test on an inconspicuous area before application.

Step 1 – Assess the Leather

Inspect the leather and determine the preparation required.

Where the existing finish is damaged, peeling or deteriorated, additional preparation using LeTech Leather Prep may be necessary.

Where the existing coating is sound, ensure it has been appropriately cleaned and prepared before proceeding.

Step 2 – Remove General Contamination

Clean the leather using LeTech Leather Ultimate Cleaner to remove general dirt and surface contamination.

Where significant grease or oil contamination is present, use an appropriate LeTech leather degreaser.

Allow the leather to dry thoroughly.

Step 3 – Apply Leather Alcohol Cleaner

Apply a small amount of Leather Alcohol Cleaner to a clean, suitable cloth.

Gently wipe the area requiring treatment using controlled, even movements.

Work systematically across the surface, regularly changing to a clean section of the cloth to avoid redistributing contamination.

Avoid excessive saturation or aggressive rubbing.

Step 4 – Inspect the Surface

Check that the leather is clean and free from visible residues.

If necessary, repeat the cleaning process using a fresh cloth.

Avoid repeated application where the existing finish shows signs of softening, colour transfer or deterioration.

Step 5 – Allow to Evaporate

Allow the alcohol to evaporate completely before applying subsequent restoration products.

Ensure the leather is thoroughly dry and free from residual contamination.

Step 6 – Continue the Restoration

Once the leather has been appropriately prepared, proceed with the required LeTech restoration products.

Leather Primer

Apply LeTech Leather Primer where required to improve adhesion.

When using Crosslinker with Leather Primer, do not exceed the maximum addition of 3%.

Leather Colourant

Apply LeTech Leather Colourant in thin, even layers to restore the desired colour.

Leather Top Coat

Complete the restoration using the appropriate LeTech Leather Top Coat to provide the required protective finish.

Follow the individual product instructions for application, drying and curing.
